APNI’s scientists alongside researchers from the Tunisian Olive Institute (OIT) assessed biomass accumulation of this century-old olive tree to determine its capacity to partition nutrients and sequester carbon.
The tree’s removal has been planned and approved granted as the station’s land was required for other purposes. This study is being repeating with trees of varying ages as part of APNI’s Carbon and Soil Health in Olive Systems (C-Crops Olive) study taking place in Tunisia and Morocco.
